For many people, it is difficult to indulge an appreciation for the arts, especially on top of the pressures of a tight working schedule. However, with a little resourceful thinking, it is possible to include your passion – be it a love of painting, sculpture, drama or dance – into your busy week.
Finding time for the things you enjoy is all about balancing priorities and taking initiative. The best way to commit yourself to an activity that is purely recreational is to sign yourself up for some kind of class or regular meeting.
If, for example, you have a love of oil on canvas, and have prints of all the greats covering your walls at home, you might want to consider joining an art group. Enrol in a painting course, or, if you feel this is a little hands on for you, find a class on art history, art criticism or art appreciation.
In addition, as a lover of the arts, you may also want to become a friend of your local art gallery or theatre. As a member, you will be eligible for special entry rates, and you will also receive regular information on upcoming exhibitions, productions and shows.
While a busy schedule might make it difficult to really get to grips with your passion for the arts, with some effort, you should be able to incorporate your passion for literature, painting or dance into your chock-a-block week.
